MERCURY COMMUTATORS

The Mercury Commutator is a rotating multi-channel electrical connector designed specifically for low noise recording/stimulating small unrestrained laboratory animal models. All of our Mercury Recording/Stimulating Commutators are compatible with a 2 channel fluid option via Instech TM fluid swivels. They come in 6, 12 and 19 channel models. They are the lowest torque commutators commercially available, and can be supplied with up to 18 impedance matching preamplifier channels (Unity Gain FET ac or dc available) mounted at animal model head stage.

SLIP-RING COMMUTATORS

Our Instrumentation quality Slip-ring Commutators feature low torque, low noise rotating electrical connection. Note: Fluid swivel compatibility is not available on the 4 to 36 channel models. They come complete with our standard input and output cables, and are available in the following configurations: 4, 6, 10, 20, 36, 84, and 120 electrical channels.

Slip-ring commutators are available with up to 32 impedance matching preamplifier channels (optional Unity Gain FET ac or dc available) mounted at the head stage. 'Gain of 10' models are also available for each of our commutators.

Model SL-88-10
Miniature Slip-Ring Commutator

This new, miniature10 channel commutator is designed for recording from mice, pre-natal rat pups, echolating bats, 15 gram song birds, etc.

Known as the Model # SL-88-10, this miniature commutator has the same noise specifications as our Model #SL-10, but is designed specifically for very small animal models by vastly reducing the size and mass of the rotating electrode shaft. The unit is fully shielded and grounded, and is made primarily of aluminum and stainless steel. The input connector is a DALE TM 11-pin female, and the output connector is a DB-15 female. The mating male connectors are supplied.

All of our commutators are "precision" instruments which can be rebuilt or repaired for a fraction of the original cost. We can also provide customized input/output cables (standard or pre-amplifier types), break out boxes, electrode selector interfaces, momentary stimulation switching units, etc..

We now offer precision slip ring commutator with a 2 channel rotating fluid cannula option (uses Instech Labs .375 series fluid swivel), in 6 to 12 channels, designed to facilitate simultaneous micro-dialysis/EEG in mice, and 18 to 24 channels for rats.
